Table Pads- How to Measure
Ordering By Manufacturer’s Table/Pattern Number
The easiest way to order a new table pad is by the Manufacturer’s Table Number or Pattern Number. Table make and model numbers usually appear underneath the table top or sometimes on a sales receipt. If you locate this number, please order your pad by this number. If we have it in our database, we can then make your table pad per the template. If we do not have it, we can probably get it directly from the manufacturer. If you are unsure which number is the template number, you can always send us an image and we can help you in determining the correct information.
Pads are designed to rest on the flat portion of the top only, therefore if your table has square edges, measure to the edge itself. If however your table has a rounded or beveled edge, only measure to the point where the flat portion of the top ends.
Tips for Measuring:
1.Measure the width (shorter measurement) of the main table top to the nearest 1/16”.
2.Measure the length WITHOUT the leaves installed.
3.Measure the length of the leaves. What we refer to as the leaf length is the measurement that adds length to the table when it’s inserted. This is typically the shorter dimension.
4.If your table is square or rectangular with squared corners, your measurements are all that are needed to place an order.
5.If your table is shaped, you may need to provide a pattern if the pattern information is not available (see pattern instructions below).
6.If your table is round, or has square corners or cut-corners (45 degree angle), you don’t need to make a pattern. In these cases, you can provide us with the measurements.
For Round or Square Cornered Tables
Measure the width and length of your table. Measure your extension leaves separately. Measure the top flat surface of your table. Do not include beveled or sloping edges. On tables with squared top edges, the pad size is equal to overall table size. On tables with shaped top edges, the pad size is less than the overall table size because any slope, bevel, round portion etc. is not included when measuring.
Please make sure that your corners of your table are square (come to a point). If they are slightly rounded, you will want to look at measuring “Rounded Corner Tables” below.
Rounded Corner Tables
For rectangular or Square tables with rounded corners: Measure the width and length of your table (at the full rectangular dimensions). Print out the “Radius Corner Template” and tell us which Radius Corner fits your table. Click on the following links for the templates:

We recommend that you take scissors and cut around the radius that appears to be closest to your table’s corner. Then place the template on your table to match it to the radius that matches to your table’s radius.
For Oval or Shaped Tables
TablePadShop.com provides a free Measuring Form and Pattern. Make a pattern of 1/2 of the flat top surface of your table top. Do not include beveled or sloping edges. To request a pattern, please go to the “Contact” page and provide us with your Name and mailing information. You can also contact us by phone to make this request.
Making a Table Pattern
· 1. Remove any extension leaves from the table.
· 2. Lay pattern paper flat on the top surface.
· 3. Position the pattern paper as follows:
o If your table has two main halves and a center seam, line up the edge of the paper with the center split.
o If you have a one piece top, make a pattern of the entire top, rather than one half.
o If you are patterning a buffet, align the edge of the paper with the back edge of the top.
· 4. Place two heavy books on the paper to keep it from moving.
· 5. Use the edge of a pencil or crayon to trace the flat portion of the top. Do not include any rounded or beveled edges.
· 6. Double-check that your width and length measurements are consistent with the pattern.
· 7. Do not cut the pattern paper for any reason.
